When searching your options in starting your own business at home, you’ll find a variety in the types of businesses you can start, as well as a variety of start up costs.  Each opportunity will certainly have their own advantages, but a lot of them will cost a lot to get started.  If you are serious about starting your own business, but don’t have a lot of money to put into it, consider the following five home based jobs you can do online for free:

 

Online Surveys

One of the easiest home based jobs available online is taking online surveys.  Companies will pay for your opinion so they get a better feel for what their market wants.  Many pay as little as $.50 per survey, but find the right company and you can earn as much as $50 per survey.

 

Pay Per Click

Another easy online job is with pay per click opportunities.  All you do is view ads from other businesses.  While many wonder why people pay you to view the ads, what you must know is that you first fill out a list of your interests beforehand.  Each ad will be geared toward your interests.  You benefit by earning money and the business benefits because they are reaching their target market.

 

Affiliate Marketing

While a little more difficult, affiliate marketing is one of the home based jobs that has the potential to earn the business owner a lot of money.  Essentially, you are advertising the products that belong to another company.  When an item is sold from a link you provided, you earn a commission on that product.  Your whole job is marketing the products you choose.

 

Freelance Writing

For those who have good writing skills, you will find there are many opportunities to earn money by writing for others.  Whether you choose to go at it alone and apply for individual writing jobs or join one of the many web content provider sites, you will find that there is a lot of money to be made in this area.

 

Online Auctions

Last, another of the jobs you will want to consider is selling products through online auctions.  While some may charge a listing fee for the products, most will not charge you to become a member.  If you do not have your own products to sell, it is as simple as buying them wholesale to resell in the auctions.

If you are reading this article you are most likely looking to join a MLM business but are afraid to just jump right in. Being apprehensive is good especially since some are just a business opportunity scam. You are concerned about losing your money to a scam artist offering false promises and are looking for help to find the right companies to work for.

 

Below are some tips that I suggest you follow when looking for business opportunities.

 

You want to remember that everything is not a scam; there are reputable businesses out there. So don't have the mindset of scam until proven otherwise. Doing this may cause you to miss out on some great opportunities.

 

When looking for a good company you should always look for stability. Check to see how long the company has been around. If the company has been around for 5 years they are most likely not a business opportunity scam and they are also not likely to go under anytime soon.

 

Make sure when viewing their website to look for contact information such as address and phone number. If their website does not contain this information then there's one big clue that they are not legit. If you can check the phone number and address also.

 

Also if their website contains many grammatical or spelling errors then that is a red flag that they are out to take your money. A real company will take pride in the way potential customers and clients view them.

 

If at all possible talk to people that have worked or still work for these MLM businesses. You can find work at home message boards where users will tell you real quick who to work for and who is a business opportunity scam. You can also find tips on how to get hired by the best ones and maybe even obtain reference from the message board.

Don’t Rely on Just One Method of Advertising

A successful marketing strategy relies on several different marketing techniques.  Those business owners who choose just one method to use are not going to get their business in front of a high enough number of their target market to be successful.  The fewer techniques used and the less number of people you will reach.

 

Rely on Both Paid and Free Advertising Opportunities

A successful business also relies on both paid and free advertising opportunities.  Those who choose to use free advertising only are missing out on a lot of great ways to get in front of their target market, such as pay per click advertising and banner advertising.  On the other hand, using paid only techniques will result in the same problem.  Making use of both paid and unpaid advertising will get your business noticed by the largest amount of people.

 

Know Your Products and Your Target Market

The one thing you must realize is that you can not create a successful marketing strategy unless you know everything there is to know about your products and your target market.  Each technique you use should highlight some of the various aspects of the product.  Each technique you use should be directed at the people who should buy the product and you must know the best way to reach them.

Before you can have a successful home based business, you must first possess 3 "intangibles." These are things that must come from WITHIN you.

 ===> Intangible 1 <===

First,you must have a strong WHY.

Why MUST you have a successful home business? What is driving you? What is it that you CAN'T have in your life anymore and/or what is it that you absolutely MUST HAVE now?

For me, I couldn't stand working 12+ hours a day anymore and missing the experience of my children growing up. I also absolutely HAD TO HAVE the freedom of being able to control my life and finances through a little box (laptop computer) that I could carry with me anywhere in the world and not be tied to anyone's time pressures or demands but my own. That was my carrot and my stick. I felt a great pain deep in my gut of missing out on my children's lives and the incredible freedom that succeeding in a home based business would provide for me. I found my why. You MUST find yours.

You must BELIEVE that it is possible.

If you don't believe that it's POSSIBLE for you to have a successful home based business or make your living from home, you won't. It's that simple.

For me, figuring out that it was possible was just a matter of realizing that many other people were ALREADY making great money working from home. If they could do it, I could too. It would just be a matter of figuring out what those people were doing and then adapting it to my situation.

There is no shortage of undeniable PROOF that people (millions of them) are making money working from home. In the old days, you had to go to a potential employer, apply for the position and hope for the best. That's backwards for most people who like to aim before they fire. The fact is that home based business success is a moving target... The only thing constant about it is change. You need to stop analyzing the game and simply jump into it. You can't learn from the outside... You have to be *IN THE RING* to truly understand and profit from it. In fact, this is a business where you can truly be earning WHILE you're still learning...

The lesson here is that you will never really be READY to start a home based business. You simply have to start one. It's like having children... You're never really ready, but when it happens you adapt and grow and therefore you succeed. This is what I call: "Making the Leap"!

In the "brick and mortar" world you need to evaluate things very carefully before you decide to open up a business.
